Introduction

Krisnadwipayana University (Unkris), belongs to a fairly old university in Indonesia, was founded in 1952, but among universities in Jakarta and even in Indonesia is still a relatively small college, the development of Unkris in the last two decades has been very slow. Ranking DIKTI, Unkris entered in the 200s. One of the weak values ​​in DIKTI ranking is the field of research and publication. In the latest developments, especially since 2014, Unkris seems to start to clean up to pursue better predicate and reputation.

Unkris currently has 5 Faculties, namely Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA), and Faculty of Engineering. In Faculty of Economics, Management Program in 2016 get accreditation A from BAN PT DIKTI, following Faculty of Law which have long accreditation A, and Faculty of Administration Science also A, while Faculty of Engineering still have accreditation B. Faculty of Economics has Postgraduate Program (S2), as well as the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA), and the Faculty of Engineering, while the Faculty of Law has held S2 and S3 programs.

The long history of Unkris’s development can provide learning for the current Unkris Management, the rising number of students, internal conflicts and the lack of income once colored Unkris. Luckily, Unkris still exist, even trying to get up. Since 2013-2014, Unkris has been continuously improving with several promotions to various companies, local government, and other institutions in East Jakarta and Bekasi. The results are quite good in terms of admissions, as one of the main revenue sources of university funds. Unkris Foundation support is financially low. Nevertheless, since 2014 every faculty encourages lecturers to improve professionalism, through a scholarship program to continue S3, until 2017 the number of lecturers with doctoral degrees is quite a lot more than 50 people, and some professors in the Faculty of Law and FIA.

In the pursuit of lagging Unkris continues to improve infrastructure, online administration system, international class, language institute, and Institute for Research and Community Development (LPPM), and the most important is the recruitment of young lecturers with better quality. Increasing the promotion and socialization of the university so that the number of students is also getting better and stable, and the alumni network is getting good and caring. Unkris, as an old university, has quite a few alumni, such as the chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court and some ministers in the New Order cabinet, the reform cabinet, the cabinet of mutual cooperation, and the working cabinet. Acceleration is what seems to start to give awareness of the need for university development and improved management.

Unkris’s vision is: The realization of Krisnadwipayana University to become a Superior University.

  1. Improving the quality of education and teaching UNKRIS by implementing the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.

Tujuan

  1. Produce UNKRIS graduates who are faithful and devoted to Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, virtuous, high moral, smart, and skilled, and full of devotion to the Almamater, nation and state imbued by Pancasila and the UUD 1945.
  2. Improving science and technology, information, and communication as well as national culture while maintaining traditional values.
  3. Improving the professional skills of science in order to have competitiveness both nationally and globally by still paying attention to the rules of scientific ethics..
  4. Increasing the devotion to the utilization of the results of science and technology for the welfare of society.

Krisnadwipayana University in the last 5 years began to clean up to face the globalization of education and the challenges of science and education development in Indonesia.

  • Increasing Sales

In the last 5 years, as an effort to increase the interest and number of students, Krisnadwipayana University socialized to private companies, around the border area and East Jakarta, local government, even other institutions such as TNI-POLRI. The result is quite positive, the number of student class employees is large enough even almost equal the number of regular class students.

  • Minimazing Cost

In an effort to minimize costs, the consequences for Krisnadwipayana University are quite cost-effective in paying lecturers’ salaries, student activities, and the most prominent is the limited research and development activities of lecturers, although since 2014 in line with the current Rector’s leadership, So that began recruited young lecturers and campus infrastructure improvements, quite routine training and lecturers education.

Efforts to increase profits, Krisnadwipayana University began to increase the cost of student education, has not had any research or other services that are commercially valuable, so the revenue of the University comes more from the cost of student education. However, the number of students from 2014 to 2017 continues to increase.

Employee turnover at Krisnadwipayana University is very low, even increasing the number of lecturers and staff. This can be seen from the composition of the number of lecturers classified “old” quite a lot and survive. Even according to information about the year 2010-2012, payroll salaries never stalled. The Krisnadwipayana University is flexible enough in regulations for permanent lecturers, although welfare is still relatively small, with this flexibility allowing lecturers to stay afloat. In addition, the university encourages the opportunity to obtain lecturer certification. Most lecturers in Unkris have been certified, and wage increases for staff.

To maintain the achievement of the university’s mission, university management seeks to formulate policies in accordance with applicable laws and regulations by DIKTI, to open learning opportunities and encourage lecturers’ appointments, as well as participation in various seminars and conferences and research. The university also has a village built in Cariu area in Bogor District. Thus, to maintain the mission of universities, Unkris strives to remain consistent in educational activities, research and community service.

The recruitment of new and younger lecturers since 2013-2014 has influenced the growth and development of Unkris, and enhanced the rank and reputation of Unkris. In the Faculty of Economics, for example, new lecturers play a role in the implementation of international classes, as well as in the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, the establishment of Language Institutes, as well as participation in conferences and publications of scientific research in various journals even among them have good impact (Scopus index). Recruitment of new lecturers is also a consequence of liability ratio of lecturers and students according to DIKTI provisions, which means that the sustainability of education activities continues to grow.

To achieve research university, management needs to focus on the following strategies:

In addition, major attention is required in the allocation of grants to lecturers research, which can be extended to graduate students in the form of scholarships, equipment and financing of research activities. Commercialization of further research is expected to bring in more funds to universities and be able to generate 30 percent of the university’s financial resources.
